This Privacy Policy describes how Policy Setu ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, stores, shares, and protects your personal information when you use our mobile application and website (collectively, the "Services").

Policy Setu is a document viewing application that allows users to conveniently view insurance policy details uploaded by their insurance agent through a separate platform. We do not sell, broker, underwrite, or provide any insurance services. We are not an insurance company, broker, or financial institution.

By using our Services, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

2. Information We Collect

We collect several types of information to provide and improve our Service to you.

  • Personal Information: While using our Service, we may ask you to provide us with certain personally identifiable information that can be used to contact or identify you ("Personal Data"). This may include, but is not limited to: first name, last name, phone number, and city.
  • Usage Data: We may also collect information on how the Service is accessed and used. This Usage Data may include information such as your device's Internet Protocol address (e.g., IP address), device type, operating system version, the pages of our Service that you visit, the time and date of your visit, the time spent on those pages, unique device identifiers, and other diagnostic data.
  • Policy Document Data: As a document viewing application, we display insurance policy details (such as policy numbers, premium amounts, renewal dates, and coverage information) that your insurance agent has uploaded through a separate agent platform (InsuranceDesk). We do not independently collect this information from you — it is provided by your agent for your convenient access.
  • Push Notification Tokens: With your permission, we collect device tokens to send you renewal reminders and important notifications about your viewable policies.

3. How We Use Your Information

Policy Setu uses the collected data for the following purposes:

  • To provide and maintain the Service — displaying your policy documents uploaded by your agent.
  • To authenticate your identity via phone number verification (OTP).
  • To send you renewal date reminders and policy-related notifications.
  • To notify you about changes to our Service.
  • To provide customer care and support.
  • To provide analysis or valuable information so that we can improve the Service.
  • To monitor the usage of the Service.
  • To detect, prevent, and address technical issues.

4. Data Retention

Policy Setu will retain your Personal Data only for as long as is necessary for the purposes set out in this Privacy Policy. We will retain and use your Personal Data to the extent necessary to comply with our legal obligations (for example, if we are required to retain your data to comply with applicable laws), resolve disputes, and enforce our legal agreements and policies.

Your information, including Personal Data, may be disclosed in the following scenarios:

  • Legal Requirements: Policy Setu may disclose your Personal Data in the good faith belief that such action is necessary to comply with a legal obligation, protect and defend the rights or property of Policy Setu, prevent or investigate possible wrongdoing in connection with the Service, or protect the personal safety of users of the Service or the public.
  • Service Providers: We may employ third-party companies and individuals to facilitate our Service ("Service Providers"), to provide the Service on our behalf, to perform Service-related services, or to assist us in analyzing how our Service is used. These third parties have access to your Personal Data only to perform these tasks on our behalf and are obligated not to disclose or use it for any other purpose.

9. Account & Data Deletion

You have the right to request deletion of your account and associated personal data at any time. To request account deletion:

  • In-App: Go to Profile → Settings → Delete Account
  • Via Email: Send a request to support@insurancedesk.co.in with the subject line "Account Deletion Request" and include your registered phone number.

Upon receiving your deletion request, we will:

  1. Delete your account and personal information within 30 days.
  2. Remove your device from push notification services.
  3. Note: Policy document data uploaded by your agent is managed separately through the agent's platform and is not affected by your app account deletion.

10. Children's Privacy

Our Service does not address anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13. If we discover that a child under 13 has provided us with Personal Data, we immediately delete it from our servers.

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.
